Message From The President

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

I just want all of you to know how excited I am to serve as president of UCRA and work with this wonderful Board. We’ve already had a planning meeting to talk about issues we’d like to address this year, so let me share those with you.

One of the things we discussed was increasing our membership. There are over 140 court reporters in the state, and UCRA’s membership is just a little more than half of that. So there’s work for us to do, and we have some ideas we’ll be implementing to facilitate an increase. Our newest Board member, Joe Liddell, will be adding his expertise and experience as our Membership Chair, so I know we’re in good hands.

We also want to improve our website to make it more informational for our members. Debbie has agreed to take on that project in her position as Vice President. So if any of you have ideas on some improvements we could make to the website to make it more useful for you, please let her know.

The third area we will focus on is promoting our profession. A handful of us had the opportunity to participate in the Davis County Career Fair this spring getting the word out about our great profession. It was loads of fun, and we had quite a bit of interest. With the need for reporters nationwide, that’s something we want to more actively pursue.

With all these things to address, we would definitely like to get some input from our members. We hope to form some committees to assist in meeting our goals this year, so if any of you are interested in serving on a committee, please let one of the board members know. Don’t worry. If you don’t call us, we’ll call you.

We are here to serve and would welcome any input, so please let us know if there’s anything we can do, any questions we can answer.
